Former Chairman of Tata Sons who took over Ratan Tata after Tata reached 75, but was later deposed in a contentious legal struggle, died in a car accident on Sunday in Palghar, Maharashtra. According to police, he was driving his Mercedes from Ahmedabad to Mumbai when it collided with a divider. Along with the driver of the vehicle, two other passengers were hurt. The injured people have all been transported to a Gujarati hospital. Soon after his sudden passing, social media flooded with condolences, including that of Priminister Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi, Shashi Tharoor, Anand Mahindra, and many more. While expressing his shock, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said, "he was a promising business leader who believed in India's economic prowess". Former Congress President and MP Rahul Gandhi also offered his condolences. "He was amongst the brightest business minds of the country, who made a significant contribution to India's growth story," he said. Union Minister Piyush Goyal said, "Indian industry has lost one of its shining stars whose contributions to India's economic progress will always be remembered".
