Royal Enfield sales drop 44% in September, Know the reason behind it

Royal Enfield revealed on Friday that overall wholesales in September fell by 44% to 33,529 units. In the same month a year earlier, the Chennai-based bikemaker recorded total sales of 60,331 units. In September, domestic sales were 27,233 units, down 52 percent from 56,200 units in the same month of 2020. However, Royal Enfield's exports increased by 52 percent to 6,296 units last month, up from 4,131 units in September 2020.

"Volumes for September have been affected by the continued worldwide scarcity of semiconductor chips and the subsequent lockdown in major supply markets. The situation eased by the end of September, and part availability is projected to begin increasing in Q3 FY2022 "In a statement, Royal Enfield stated.

Year to date (YTD), the firm has sold 2,10,270 units in the domestic market in 2020'21, which is 7% more than the 1,96,635 units sold in 2019'20. In terms of exports, the firm sold 36,797 units in 2019'20, up from 11,443 units the previous year, a direct increase of 222 percent.

Royal Enfiled has modified its best-selling Classic 350 model to increase sales. With a new base and engine, the bike has evolved into a new generation bike. The Chennai-based bike manufacturer also recently held its ‘One Ride' event on September 26th.
