RT-PCR not mandatory for kids to perform Sabarimala pilgrimage: Kerala Govt

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government announced on Saturday, November 27, that children under the age of 10 will be exempted from mandatory RT-PCR testing before visiting the Sabarimala temple. It was stated in a new guideline that the elders should guarantee that the children accompanying them strictly follow the Covid rules, which include wearing a mask, carrying a sanitizer, and maintaining social distance.

The elders are also responsible for the health of the children, according to the rule. The above-ten-year-old pilgrims, on the other hand, must either have a recent negative RT-PCR test report or have had both vaccines. The two-month temple season, which began on November 16, will culminate with a few days off in the third week of January.

As a precaution, the daily number of devotees has been limited to a maximum of 30,000 this season, which must either be pre-booked or obtained on the scene, for which counters have been set up. According to temple officials, approximately 1.3 million pilgrims have pre-booked their temple visits.
