TEHRAN – Iran and Russia have explored measures to expand their nuclear energy cooperation, including the construction of more units at Iran's Bushehr nuclear power plant, according to Iran's nuclear energy agency. In a meeting between Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, on Wednesday, Behrouz Kamalvandi, spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), said that enhancing strategic nuclear cooperation was an important topic, according to the official state news IRNA. "Tehran and Moscow are currently in talks to build the Bushehr power plant's second and third units," Kamalvandi added. He expressed hope that Iranian and Russian technical groups will soon strengthen collaboration and information exchange in order to jumpstart the projects. Each project at the power plant, he claimed, was worth USD 5 billion and would thus play a key role in bilateral economic ties.
