One of the renowned directors of the Kanada industry S K Bhagavan passes away at the age of 89. The actor breathed his last today morning at a hospital in Bengaluru. He was suffering from a prolonged age-related illness. Over his career span, he has given some of the best films to the industry. His mortal remains will be kept for public viewing at his residence and Ravindra Kalakshetra. S K Bhagavan was born on July 5, 1933. He began performing in theatre plays at an early age alongside Hirannaiah Mithra Mandali. He began working in the movie industry as Kanagal Prabhakar Shastri's assistant in 1955. He co-directed Jedara Bale (1968) with Dorai Raj under the moniker Dorai-Bhagavan. S K Bhagawan along with Dorai who died in 2000 has directed nearly 27 movies which set the box office on fire. Bhagavan last directed by Aduva Gombe which got released in 2019 had Anant Nag and late actor Sanchari Vijay in lead roles. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai also pays tribute to the director and wrote, “"I was very saddened to hear the news of renowned director of Kannada film industry SK Bhagavan's death. I pray that God gives strength to his family to bear this pain. The dorai-Bhagawan duo has given many tasteful films to Kannada cinema. Dr and his friend Dorai Raj directed 55 films.
