Sarpanch among 3 arrested with contraband substances in Budgam Jammu

SRINAGAR: In Jammu Kashmir's  Budgam district, three people were detained with illegal narcotics, including a Sarpanch. On Tuesday evening, the arrests were made. "During 'Naka' (Checkpost) screening at Dadina in Budgam district yesterday evening, three people were caught with 350 tablets of Alprazolam and Heroin-like drugs.

"Shuja Abbas, the National Conference Sarpanch of Waterwani village, Shahid Ali Rather of Khumani Chowk, and Barkat Ali of Labertal Budgam have been arrested.

"An FIR has been filed against the accused persons under relevant provisions of the law, and further investigation is underway," police sources added.

At police station Budgam, a case was filed under FIR No. 130/22 under section 8/21-22 of the NDPS Act, and additional investigations were launched.
