Srinagar: Things are slowly returning to normal in Jammu and Kashmir. The Government is eliminating the restrictions in a phased manner. Internet services have been restored in many parts of the state. According to senior officials, the situation in the valley is returning to normal. State Chief Secretary BVR Subramanian said on Friday that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir is changing rapidly after the removal of Section 370. Most of the telephone services in the valley will be restored on Saturday while schools and colleges will be open from Monday. It is expected that normal functioning will start on Monday. Also, restrictions will be further relaxed in the coming days. Says, no untoward incident took place during the restoration of peace in the state even after all efforts by terrorist organisations and Pakistan. The government and the administration received the full support of the local people in restoring peace. The Chief Secretary said that the situation in 12 out of 22 districts is completely normal. Public vehicles have also been allowed to ply in the concerned areas with the removal of restrictions. During the restrictions, people were taken care of not to lack essential commodities, medicines. The pilgrims coming from Haj were taken special care of. Adequate discounts were given before Eid on Saturday and Sunday. Additional vigilance was maintained on 14-15th August. Describing the restoration of communication services as a serious issue, he said, it will be restored in a phased manner. Landline connections to be restored soon in J&K - sources The move comes in the wake of the threat of terrorist activities being carried out using mobile phones by terrorist organisations.
