Serial killer accused of murdering 18 women arrested by Hyderabad police

The Hyderabad police has said (on Tuesday) that they had arrested a serial killer who was targeting women after his wife eloped with another person. The man identified as Maina Ramulu is accused of allegedly murdering eighteen women over the course of 24 years.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar on Tuesday announced the arrest of Maina Ramulu, a labourer, for killing two women. A resident of Borabanda in Hyderabad, Ramulu was arrested in a joint operation by Hyderabad and Rachakonda police while investigating the cases of two missing women.

With his arrest, two current situations of womens’ murder have been detected. The man, a stone cutter, was caught by officials of the city police Task Force and the police of Rachakonda Commissionerate.  Earlier, he was arrested in 21 situations, which includes 16 situations of murder for achieve, 4 house offences and one case of escaping from police custody. He got married at the age of 21, but his wife eloped with yet another man inside a brief period and he bore a grudge against ladies given that then, the police stated.

He began his criminal activity in 2003, targeting single ladies by supplying them income for sexual favours. He would kill his victims immediately after consuming liquor or toddy with them and then flee immediately after stealing their valuables, the police added.
