Bhubaneswar: As per India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) prediction, a thick blanket of dense fog engulfed several parts of Odisha including the Twin Cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar on Saturday. Though early-risers had the opportunity to see the thick pall of mist, the dense cover of fog also made plight for hundreds of commuters who were seen struggling to drive on the busy roads in different parts of the State. The visibility had dropped to less than 50 mts which applied brakes on the smooth movement of vehicular traffic between the Twin Cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. Earlier, the IMD’s regional centre in Bhubaneswar had issued dense fog alert for eight districts including Cuttack Khorda, Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Puri, Kendrapara and Nayagarh. The Meteorological department has also issued dense fog alert for several districts of Odisha for the next 48 hours. Shallow to moderate fog very likely to occur at one or two places in the early morning over the districts of Coastal Odisha, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Boudh, Angul and Dhenkanal on Sunday.
