Mumbai: The domestic stock market has made a great start to the New Year. Both the Sensex and Nifty gained more than 0.50 per cent in early trade in the first session of the year. The Nifty crossed the 17,450-point mark as the market opened flat in the pre-open session. The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) was trading more than 300 points stronger than 58,550 points in early trade. On the other hand, the Nifty at the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was trading 0.53 per cent higher at 17,450 points. Earlier, the domestic stock market had concluded the year 2021 positively, which was impressive as trading. The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange gained 459.50 points (0.80 per cent) to 58,253.82 points and the National Stock Exchange Nifty gained 160.25 points (0.93 per cent) to 17,364.20 points after Friday's trading ended last week. Last year, both the Sensex and Nifty gained nearly 24 per cent. The Nifty was up 23.87 per cent and the Sensex at 21.69 per cent in 2021.
