Srinagar: Another Hindu temple in the Doda area of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has been vandalised. This temple belongs to Lord Shiva, who is known by the local people as 'Chhota Mani Mahesh'. Enraged by the incident, people have demanded the administration to take strict action against the accused. It is being told that the incident took place on the intervening night of July 14-15. Police have registered an FIR and launched a search for the unidentified accused. According to media reports, the incident took place in the Marmat area. The demolished temple is about 10 km from the road. The picture, which is going viral on social media, tries to break the statue of Lord Shiva. The hands and feet of the statue have been broken. Other items are seen scattered in the temple. Hindu organisations protested against the incident and burnt effigies of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and the Central Government. "In 2-3 months, more than 8 temples were demolished in Jammu and Kashmir. Everyone knows that these temples are the centre of our faith. To date, no temple breaker has been arrested by the police. There is resentment among Hindus. The Union Territory Government should not force us to stage a violent protest. If the arrests of the temple breakers are not made, a demonstration will be held at the Lieutenant Governor's House.'' Let us know that in the past few days, there have been incidents of breaking of statues in many temples of Jammu and Kashmir. On April 8 this month, the idols of the Laxmi Narayan temple falling in the Sidda area were damaged. On May 5, 2022, the Vasuki temple in Doda was vandalised. Hindu organisations had staged violent protests against the incident, at which time the administration had assured to nab the accused at the earliest. A big question that arises from these incidents is, why don't people who consider just one statement as blasphemy consider the demolition of the temple to be blasphemous? And after all, who are the people who are committing such acts in the Valley?
