Cabinet meeting today under chairmanship of CM Shivraj, to consider draft of Debt Release Bill

Bhopal: The Shivraj government of Madhya Pradesh has already discharged the scheduled tribe category persons belonging to scheduled areas from loans and interest from unlicensed moneylenders. It is now reported that it is ready to expand its ambit. In fact, the cabinet meeting is going to be held today i.e. The draft Madhya Pradesh rural (marginal and small farmers and landless agricultural laborers) loan redemption bill will be considered in the meeting. At the same time, it can also be decided to send the president for permission.

According to reports, the loans and interest taken from unlicensed moneylenders by landless agricultural laborers, marginal and small farmers will be declared illegal till 15th August 2020. Then neither the farmer will have to pay this amount nor can it be recovered. Sources said, about 15 issues may be considered in the cabinet meeting. The recovery of loans given by unlicensed moneylenders to landless agricultural laborers, including small and medium farmers, can be declared illegal in this list. At the same time, the Department of Revenue will submit the bill to the Assembly.

It is said that the act will not cover the loans received from a rented property, wages, maintenance obligations, licensed moneylenders, or other financial means. The case falls under the purview of non-act in civil court will not be heard. It is also being said that the ongoing activities under the revenue process for recovery of debts will also be over. The mortgaged property will also have to be addressed. Violation of the Act will be punishable with imprisonment of three years or a fine up to one lakh rupees or both. At the same time, there are many more things that are likely to happen in the meeting.
