BHOPAL: Shivraj Singh Chauhan, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, is all set to inaugurate the trial run of the Indore Metro, a significant milestone in the state's infrastructure development. This momentous event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 30th, at 4 pm, commencing from the Gandhi Nagar Depot. During this trial run, the metro train will embark on a six-kilometer round trip, starting from the Gandhi Nagar depot and concluding at the station. The objective of this exercise is to ensure the seamless operation and safety of the metro system, marking a crucial step towards its full-scale implementation. Notable dignitaries such as Member of Parliament Shankar Lalwani, Manish Singh, the Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited, and various other officials, convened on Wednesday to oversee the meticulous preparations for this trial run. They diligently inspected the metro station located at Super Corridor 3, in addition to scrutinizing the depot's readiness. Remarkably, the construction work for four metro stations is nearly complete, underlining the rapid progress made in this ambitious project. The coaches have already undergone rigorous safety runs, with over 20 such tests conducted in a span of just 10 days. These tests have been crucial in ensuring the metro's reliability and safety standards. It's worth noting that the initial trial run will not accommodate passengers, as the focus remains primarily on evaluating the system's performance and safety measures. However, once operational, each coach will have the capacity to accommodate more than three hundred passengers, significantly improving urban transportation in the city. Managing Director Manish Singh further shared that, in preparation for the future, they plan to issue tenders for the underground section of the metro on MG Road before the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct. This strategic move will expedite the commencement of this essential infrastructure project, benefiting the citizens of Indore. In a promising outlook, Singh revealed that next year will witness a trial run on a 17-kilometer route, stretching from the Gandhi Nagar Depot to Radisson. This expansion underscores the commitment to expanding the metro network and enhancing public transportation options for the people of Indore. The Indore Metro is poised to revolutionize urban commuting, providing a more efficient and environmentally friendly mode of transportation for the growing city.
