NEW DELHI: In a powerful display of solidarity and condemnation, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan personally met Dashrath Rawat and performed a humble act of washing his feet at the CM House in Bhopal. This compassionate gesture comes as a direct response to a deeply disturbing video that has recently gone viral on social media, capturing the reprehensible act of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) representative Pravesh Shukla urinating on Rawat in Sidhi district.
Taking swift action, Shukla was promptly arrested on July 5, and the local administration wasted no time in demolishing the illegal portions of his constructed house.
The distressing video, recorded approximately a year ago at a local phone recharge shop in Sidhi district, has sparked widespread outrage and deep concern. It depicts Shukla callously urinating on Dashrath Rawat, a hardworking tribal laborer, despite Rawat's desperate pleas for him to stop.
Dashrath Rawat, a member of the Kol community, which belongs to the Scheduled Caste tribe originating from the Chotanagpur plateau, had chosen to remain silent about the incident out of concern for his own safety. Rawat, who earns his livelihood as a daily wage laborer, was simply sitting on the stairs of the phone shop when Shukla arrived and carried out this degrading act.
Following Shukla's arrest on charges under the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act as well as the National Security Act, the local administration took swift action to dismantle his illegal encroachments on July 5.
