Sikh family murder case in America, CM Mann demands high-level investigation

Amritsar: Punjab Chief Minister and senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Bhagwant Mann on Thursday expressed grief over the killing of four members of a Sikh family in the US, saying there should be a high-level inquiry into the matter. Four members of a family, including an eight-month-old girl who was kidnapped earlier this week, have been found dead in California, US. The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Jasdeep Singh, 27-year-old Jasleen Kaur, their eight-month-old daughter Aarohi Dheli and the child's uncle Amandeep Singh (39).

The Sikh family was a resident of Harsi Pind under the Tanda block of Punjab's Hoshiarpur district. In a tweet, CM Mann said, "Received news of the murder of 4 Indians, including an 8-month-old child, in California. Expressing grief over the killing, he wrote in a tweet in Punjabi, "There is also an appeal to S Jaishankar that there should be a high-level inquiry into the matter.'' At the same time, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal has also condoled the death of four family members.

He has appealed to External Affairs Minister Jaishankar to take up the issue of the security of Indians with the US authorities concerned. Badal tweeted, "The brutal abduction and murder of 8-month-old Aarohi, her parents and uncle Amandeep Singh is a matter of shock and concern to Punjabis across the world. I request Dr S Jaishankar to take up the issue of the security of Indians with the US administration.''
