New Delhi: In the post-1980 era, Congress had the opportunity to provide justice for Muslim women. However, vote bank was more important for Congress and it was not necessary for them to get justice to women. Union Minister Smriti Irani said these things on the occasion of the first anniversary of the enactment of the law against triple talaq. Reminding the period after 1980 when Congress was in power, Minster Irani said that the better life of Muslim women was not the goal of the party. They had the strength, but for them the vote bank was more important, not to give justice to Muslim women. Union Ministers Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Ravi Shankar Prasad also addressed Muslim women on the occasion of the first anniversary of the law made against triple talaq. Last year the Parliament passed the Triple Divorce Bill and the Center has decided to celebrate it as Muslim Women Rights Day. BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said that 'This day is like a celebration for Muslim women and said that PM Modi is a 21st-century social reformer. Shahnawaz said that from Shahbano to Saira Banu, Muslim women had been facing triple talaq for many years. But now they are leading a life of dignity and equality.
