NEW DELHI: Former PM Manmohan Singh,' who has taken over the reins of the country for ten years, has removed his SPG protection. They will be given Z Plus category protection. The Home Ministry of the Central Government looks after the security arrangements of the big people of the country. In the same order, the Home Ministry has cut the security of Manmohan Singh as per inputs received from agencies. The decision has been taken in view of the low risk of their lives. The Ministry says that the security arrangements are reviewed after the stipulated time. This is a normal process and it is the decision to reduce or enhance security. The SPG protection in the country is given only to a small number of people. The SPG consists of the best security forces deployed in the security of the most protected politicians of the country. The force will now protect only four people - Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress President Sonia Gandhi and her two children Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Sources close to Manmohan Singh, who led the UPA government from 2004 to 2014, say that he is not personally concerned about his security and will accept the government's decision. Earlier, the SPG security was withdrawn from former Prime Minister H.D. Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the first PM of the NDA, had SPG protection by 2018. He was away from public life for many years due to illness. Former Prime Minister Manmohan's daughter had returned her SPG security after the Congress' defeat in 2014. The Prime Minister and the Gandhi family in the country have the security of the SPG. It is the highest level of security. The commandos deployed in it have state-of-the-art weapons and communication equipment.
