Spicejet flight from Mumbai to Durgapur gets entangled in storm, several passengers injured

Kolkata: A SpiceJet flight flying from Mumbai to Durgapur in West Bengal was hit by a storm on Sunday (2-05-2021), leaving around 40 passengers on board the plane injured, of whom 12 passengers sustained serious injuries. A SpiceJet spokesperson said the 189-seater Boeing 737-800 aircraft was the victim of the incident due to the storm.  

He said the incident took place during the landing of the aircraft at Durgapur airport. According to sources, all the passengers were terrified due to the storm in the aircraft and all the passengers kept in the cabin fell on the same passengers, due to which the passengers suffered injuries. According to airport authorities,  there were about 188 passengers on board the plane. Some of the passengers also suffered head injuries, who have been admitted to a nearby hospital. At the same time, at the moment, the situation is stable for all passengers and is out of danger.

Regretting the incident, SpiceJet said that the SpiceJet Boeing B737 flight number SG-945 from Mumbai to Durgapur suffered a storm during landing, which unfortunately resulted in injuries to some passengers. On reaching Durgapur, immediate medical help was provided to the injured persons.
