KOLKATA: At a time when the state administration is already under fire for the West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) recruitment anomalies, another case involving corruption in primary teacher recruitments was filed in the Calcutta High Court on Tuesday. The case was filed at the Calcutta High Court's single-judge bench of Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay, who had previously ordered a CBI investigation into the WBSSC recruiting irregularities scheme. A new bench of the High Court has been directed to cancel the job of a mathematics teacher. The appeal was submitted by a single person, Ramesh Mail, who claimed that one Subrata Mandal was appointed as a primary teacher despite failing to pass the required examination. Mandal, by the way, filed a suit in the Calcutta High Court in 2014, contesting his results. However, he withdrew the petition a few days after filing it, and shortly after that, he received an appointment letter as a primary school teacher. Ramesh Mali, the petitioner, claims there was foul pay in the process of first disputing his results in the count, then withdrawing them, and then securing the appointment. On June 9, 2022, the case is expected to be heard. Ramesh Mali's lawyer said in court that until the inconsistencies in primary teacher recruitment are thoroughly investigated, another WBSSC-style scandal will emerge.
