Ujjain: In view of the damage caused to shivling at Baba Mahakal temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, the apex court has asked the temple management committee to submit a report within seven days. The Supreme Court has also sought a report from the temple management committee on the structure of the temple along with the Shivling erosion, after which the temple administration will now examine the structure of the temple and submit the report to the apex court. It may be mentioned that the Supreme Court had earlier issued notices to the temple administration for the protection of the Shivling on a petition on the structure of the temple. Thousands of devotees visit Baba Mahakal in Ujjain every day, while during Sawan, the number of devotees increases tremendously. There are also fears of anahoney, which led to the Supreme Court asking the temple management committee to conduct an inquiry into the structure of the temple. The report of the temple management committee is considered to be very important because of the Nagpanchami festival on August 5. The temple committee is likely to take a major decision in view of the pressure of devotees to visit Nagpanchami at the top of the temple.
