NEW DELHI: Sakshi Bhardwaj, who posted objectionable videos about the Sikh community, has suffered a setback from the Supreme Court. The apex court has rejected his demand for quashing of the case and the case will continue. Earlier, the Patiala House Court in Delhi had ordered Google India to delete videos related to speeches that spread hatred towards Sikhism and Sikh gurus. The court had said that prima facie it appears that Sakshi Bhardwaj had said derogatory remarks about Sikh gurus and their families. Prosecutor Gurmeet Singh, who petitioned GS Wali, had said that the court had said that if such videos were shared on social media, it would hurt the religious sentiments of followers of Sikhism. The court had imposed a ban on Google officials from uploading or publishing videos containing derogatory speeches against gurus of any religion, particularly Sikhs. The court had, meanwhile, asked for the removal of videos of Sakshi Bhardwaj from all platforms within 7 days. These speeches were being shared on social media for several days, which could harm communal harmony.
