Suryakumar Yadav Strengthens Top Position in ICC T20I Batting Rankings

Indian explosive batter, Suryakumar Yadav, has extended his lead at the summit of the ICC T20I batting rankings after a stellar performance in the second T20I against South Africa. Yadav's quick-fire half-century, scoring 56 off 36 balls, elevated his total rating points to 865, securing his position as the No.1 ranked batter in T20Is. This dominant lead puts him ahead of competitors such as Mohammad Rizwan from Pakistan (787 rating points) and Aiden Markram from South Africa (758).

Suryakumar Yadav claimed the top T20I batter title during the T20 World Cup in Australia in 2022 and continues to exhibit excellent form, solidifying his position ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the USA. Youngsters Tilak Varma and Rinku Singh also saw improvements in their rankings, with Varma moving up 10 spots to 55th and Singh progressing 46 places to 59th.

Meanwhile, in the bowling rankings, Afghanistan's Rashid Khan has joined India's Ravi Bishnoi at the top, replacing the newly-crowned No.1 T20I bowler. South Africa's Tabraiz Shamsi made significant progress by moving up two places to 10th after an economical spell of 1/18 in the recent match. India's Kuldeep Yadav rose five places to secure the 32nd spot among T20I bowlers.

In the all-rounder category, Ravindra Jadeja maintains the top position, while Aiden Markram has improved two places, securing the second spot. Shifting to Test rankings, the two-match series between Bangladesh and New Zealand has prompted some changes. Glenn Phillips, who won the Player of the Match in the second Test, climbed from outside the top 100 to 55th in the batter rankings and moved up 42 places to 24th in the all-rounder list. Ajaz Patel jumped seven places to 33rd in the Test bowlers rankings, while Bangladesh's Mehidy Hasan and Nayeem Hasan also made significant strides, reaching the 21st and 44th positions, respectively.
