Tamil Nadu Ex-CM Panneerselvam writes to PM Modi to release funds for flood relief

Chennai: O. Panneerselvam, the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and AIADMK Coordinator, has asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for funds to help flood-affected areas.

In a letter dated Monday, Panneerselvam mentioned the water inundation in Chennai and its suburbs as a result of heavy rainfall, and said that in addition to relief and rescue operations, ex-gratia payments for damages to huts and dwellings must be made. "In addition, public infrastructure reconstruction will be carried out," Panneerselvam stated.

In the letter, Panneerselvam also expressed gratitude to Narendra Modi for assuring the people of Tamil Nadu of the Centre's support in relief and rescue efforts. "I thus request that you issue appropriate instructions to the Ministry of Finance for the release of funds to Tamil Nadu so that timely rescue, relief, and rehabilitation operations can be carried out," Panneerselvam conveyed to Prime Minister.
