Chennai: Rain in Tamil Nadu has created flood like conditions. Chennai and adjoining areas have received heavy rainfall due to cyclonic conditions during monsoon. Meanwhile, heavy rain is predicted in parts of the state on November 10 and 11. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued an advisory to become a low pressure area in the south-east Bay of Bengal and asked fishermen to return from the sea.
The Met department has further said that light to moderate rainfall is expected in Kerala, south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu during the next five days. director general of IMD Mrityunjay Mohapatra said the rainfall is likely to subside during the day after chennai recorded heavy rains in the last 24 hours. Mohapatra said, 'On November 9, there will be a low pressure area in the South-East Bay of Bengal. It will be as a pressure on the north-west side on the morning of November 11 and will be centralized on the north coast of Tamil Nadu.'
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin reviewed flood affected areas in Chennai on Monday. Heavy rain continued in Chennai and adjoining areas on Monday. Heavy rain rain closed schools in several districts of the state on Monday. CM MK Stalin distributed relief materials and food to needy people in Royapuram and port areas of rain-hit Chennai city.
