Ind Vs Nz: Team India win T20 series, thrash New Zealand by 5 wickets

India beat New Zealand by five wickets in the first match of the T20 series. In the match played at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Wednesday, The Indian team achieved the target of 166 runs for the loss of five wickets. With this win, India has taken a 1-0 lead in three T20 series. The second match of the three-match series will be played in Ranchi on November 19. Surya Kumar Yadav played a key role in India's victory, scoring a brilliant 62 runs. Captain Rohit Sharma also made an important contribution of 48 runs.

Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul chased down their target to give India a good start. Both the players shared a 50-run stand in just 5.1 overs. However, captain Rohit Sharma (48) has been the biggest contributor to the partnership. Vice-captain Rahul scored just 15 off 14 balls. Shreyas Iyer, who came in to bat after Surya Kumar Yadav (62) was dismissed, could not do much and returned to the pavilion after being caught by Trent Boult off the Southee.  However, Rishabh Pant stood firm at the other end.

Daryl Mitchell bowled the final over of the match, with India scoring 10 runs.  Venkatesh Iyer, the debutant of the match, reduced the pressure by hitting a boundary off his first ball.  However, he was dismissed on the next ball, which once again brought a thrill to the match.  Three runs were required off the last three balls.  Rishabh Pant (17 not out) hit a boundary to give India a resounding victory.
