Melbourne: The majestic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) has been lighted up in green and gold to commemorate Australia's first-ever title victory in the ICC T20 World Cup in the UAE on November 14.
The MCG was lit up in green and gold, the colours that symbolise the Australian limited-overs side, as the Australian heroes led by Aaron Finch and members of the England touring party for the Ashes arrived in Queensland on a chartered flight from Dubai along with members of the England touring party for the Ashes.
Cricket Australia tweeted, "The @MCG lights up green and gold to celebrate Australia's #T20WorldCup success," with spin master Shane Warne replying, "Love this! (Red heart sign)." The ICC T20 World Cup final will be staged under lights at the MCG on November 13, according to the ICC, which announced that seven cities will host the showcase event on Tuesday. The semifinals will be place in Sydney and Adelaide, respectively.
The triumphant Australian team arrived in Brisbane on Tuesday morning, and the Test players immediately entered a 14-day hotel quarantine on the Gold Coast in preparation for the Ashes, which begin on December 8.
