HYDERABAD: A group of Telangana Congress officials convened with Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on Sunday, asserting their claim to establish the government with 65 members in the state's recently elected House, as per PTI news agency. Following the meeting with the Telangana Governor, Karnataka's Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, acting as one of the AICC observers, declared, "We have approached the Governor to stake our claim to form the government with 65 members in this freshly elected House. Tomorrow at 9:30 am, we have scheduled a meeting with the newly elected MLAs." Meanwhile, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao tendered his resignation to Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan following his party's defeat in the state assembly elections. K T Rama Rao, the working president of BRS, confirmed the resignation on Sunday, acknowledging the people's support during the party's two consecutive terms in office. Expressing gratitude to the electorate for the opportunity to serve, K T Rama Rao noted that while the election results were not in line with their expectations, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) remains appreciative of the chance to govern. He emphasized being more disappointed than saddened by the party's performance as the Congress gains ground, in 64 of the total 119 seats.
