NEW DELHI: PV Sindhu, created history at the Badminton World Championship, and Manasi Joshi, who won gold medals in the World Para-Badminton Championship, these two rising stars were honoured by the Governor of Telangana. Telangana Governor E. S. L. Narasimhan also felicitated the two players and the national coach Pullela Gopichand and other coaches at a function held at Raj Bhawan. Veteran shooter Gagan Narang said this for the Dronacharya Award! The governor praised them for their performances. He said, "I assure all of you that Sindhu will take the Olympic gold medal and come to the same Raj Bhavan. No matter if I'll be here or not in the coming years. But Raj Bhavan will honour her next year. While praising Manasi, he said she is an inspiration for all. The national coach Gopichand said that "it was possible only with the help of coaches and support staff". This team was searching for missing players by advertising! PV Sindhu met Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Wednesday along with coach Gopichand and her parents. PV Sindhu returned to the country late Monday night as the world champion. She arrived at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi from Switzerland, where she was given a grand welcome by the fans. Sindhu won the gold medal by defeating Nozomi Okuhara of Japan at the World Championship. She reached the final of this championship for the third time in a row. She was beaten in the finals twice, after which she had to be satisfied with the silver. She is the first Indian to win this title. The star player of India got victory in the fifth attempt.
