Hyderabad: The Telangana government has taken a major decision for the upliftment of dalits in the state. Here, the Government will deposit Rs.10 lakhs in the accounts of each Dalit. The amount will be credited directly to the bank account. It will be started from 100 families. A budget of Rs.1200 crores has been earmarked for the first phase. The decision was taken in an all party meeting. The decision was taken unanimously at an all party meeting organised by CM K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) on Sunday. According to the government, under the CM Dalit Empowerment Programme, financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh is in the bank account of Dalit beneficiaries to make eligible candidates financially self-reliant. The KCR had convened a meeting after the custody death of a Dalit woman from Karimnagar. The issue of financial assistance was raised by Congress Legislature Party leader and Madhira MLA Mallu Bhatti Vikramark in the meeting. In the first phase of the programme, 100 families from 100 assembly seats in Telangana will be provided financial assistance. A statement issued by KCR's office said that 11,900 families selected from across the state will be assisted. For this, it was decided to fix Rs 10 lakhs in an all party meeting chaired by CM KCR. 1200 crore has been earmarked for CM Empowerment Programme. Financial assistance will be directly credited to the bank accounts of selected Dalit beneficiaries as is done under The Rayathu Bandhu Scheme of Telangana for farmers.
