Tension, stone pelting again on Assam-Mizoram border

Guwahati: Tension erupted during government road construction work on the Assam-Mizoram border. Due to which the construction work had to be stopped. According to the incident, dumpers and JCB divers operating at a government road construction site in Bhagewada Khulisara area of ​​Dholai constituency have alleged that around 150 people along with Mizoram Police pelted stones at them. He further claimed that gunshots were also heard during the incident.

“I was busy with my work when two people came to me and started shooting a video in their mobile handset. Suddenly around 100 to 150 people started pelting stones with slingshots and pointing bow and arrow at us. Threatened. I also heard voices. However, the firing managed to escape from the spot," said one of the drivers. Another driver said they were chased using bow and arrow. “There were around 100 to 150 people in a group, they started shooting videos in their mobile handsets and also shot bows and arrows at the people working on the site.

They asked us to leave the spot and chased us away. There were several Mizos in the group, including some policemen,” he said. Cachar district superintendent of police Ramandeep Kaur, Cachar district additional superintendent of police Partha Pratim Saikia along with their team of policemen reached the spot immediately after the incident to control the situation. As per reports, a patrolling force has been deployed in the entire area by the Cachar district administration.
