Amritsar: PM Narendra Modi made a big announcement during the 'Mann Ki Baat' program on the last Sunday of September. PM Modi said that the Chandigarh airport in Mohali will now be known as Shaheed Bhagat Singh. This decision was being awaited for a long time, now Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann has thanked this decision of PM. However, while thanking, he also reminded that he had written a letter to the Aviation Ministry demanding the change of name of the airport. It is noteworthy that there was a demand to change the name of Chandigarh airport after Shaheed Bhagat Singh for several days. There was also a mutual agreement between the Punjab government and the Haryana government on this. The Punjab government had last month discussed with Haryana the demand to name the Chandigarh airport in Mohali, Punjab after Shaheed Bhagat Singh. Today PM Modi has stamped this decision. After the PM's decision, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said, 'Haryana's Civil Aviation Minister Dushyant Chautala and I together wrote a letter to the Union Aviation Ministry and demanded that the name of Mohali-Chandigarh airport be changed to Shaheed Bhagat Singh. This naming should be done before his date of birth on September 28.' Thanking PM Modi, Mann said, 'PM Modi has announced this thing in 'Mann Ki Baat', I thank him.'
