Sania and Lucy's pair managed to make it to semi-finals

India's star women's tennis player Sania Mirza and Czech partner Lucy Radekka have managed to make it to the semi-finals of the Women's Doubles at the Dubai Tennis Championships. Sania and Lucy defeated the Japanese pair of Shuko Oyama and Serbia's Alexandra Krunich 7-5, 6-3 in straight sets in the match played on Thursday.

Sania and Radekka also got a wild card entry in the tournament. However, the performance of both of them so far was tremendous. The Dubai Tennis Championships is a WTA 500 tournament. In the semi-finals, Sania and Radekka will face the top-ranked Japanese pair of Ana Shibahara and Shuai Zhang of China.

The pair of Ana and Shuai will take on the Ukrainian pair of Lyudmila Kichenok and Latvia's Jelena Ostapenko in the other semi-final. Sania has also won the Dubai Tennis Championships title in the past. She also won the women's doubles title in 2013 with Bethany Mattek Sands of the USA.  

The 35-year-old Sania has also recently issued a statement about her retirement after the Australian Open. She has said that she is going to say goodbye to tennis forever after this year. Sania has so far won six Grand Slam titles in her career. This includes three mixed doubles titles.
