The Indian women's hockey team has also been placed in pool B for the World Cup to be held in Spain and the Netherlands from July 1. India is placed alongside England, New Zealand and China. The Indian team has also recently qualified for the World Cup by finishing third in the Asia Cup in Muscat. The Indian team was in the top 8 for the first time in the last World Cup. The Netherlands is in Group A with Germany, Ireland and Chile, while hosts Spain, Argentina, Korea and Canada are also on the list in Pool C. Group D consists of Australia, Belgium, Japan and South Africa.

Let us tell you that Indian team goalkeeper Savita Poonia has spoken about this that it is a tough pool because England (number three) and New Zealand (number eight) are above us in the world rankings and China can be reversed anytime.  

Continuing with her point, Savita further said that as a team, our focus has always been more on our performance, not on the ability of the opponent. Now that we know who to play within the pool stage, we can prepare accordingly.
