Ranchi: A major accident took place in East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand on Friday. Two workers were killed and 16 others injured when a pickup van overturned. Police said the driver fled the spot after the accident. According to police, about 30 labourers from Purulia and Bankura districts of West Bengal were on their way to Jamshedpur to catch a train to Visakhapatnam. The incident took place on Patmada-Tata Road in Patmada police station area. Patmada police station in-charge Ashok Ram said the pickup van went out of control after the tyre broke down. He said six of the 16 injured were admitted to a hospital where the condition of one is stated to be critical. On the other hand, naxalites continue to terrorise the state. The new building of Kurumgarh police station in Chainpur block of Gumla district was bombed by naxalites. The naxalites first took the sleeping labourers hostage and then bombed them and blew them up. A part of the building was completely destroyed. On the other hand, there were cracks in the other part. The incident took place at 12.15 pm on Thursday. 7 labourers were staying in the building for construction work. The naxalites first pulled the workers out of the building and took possession of them and then blew up the building with about 200 kg of explosives.
