KABUL: The central bank of Afghanistan, Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB), has stated that the United Nations has transferred USD32 million in cash to the war-torn country as part of the world body's humanitarian relief support, according to media reports. According to Khaama Press, the DAB claimed the money was delivered to Afghanistan International Bank (AIB) on Thursday in a statement. The DAB welcomed the UN aid, saying it is part of a process in which the UN will pay USD20 million per week to the country until March. "This will undoubtedly assist Afghanistan's frail economic and banking infrastructures, which are considered to be imploding," it continued. Economic specialists, on the other hand, have predicted that the Afghani, the country's indigenous currency, will continue to fall unless dollars are injected into the market.
