Thief targets Arun Jaitley's cremation; steals phones of Babul Supriyo and 10 others

NEW DELHI: Many Political figures came together to the funeral of former Finance Minister and Veteran BJP leader Arun Jaitley. But, one robber turned the mourning into a golden opportunity. According to information received, the mobile phones of about 11 people who had arrived to attend the funeral of the late Arun Jaitley were stolen during the period.

At least 11 people, including BJP MP Babul Supriyo, had their phones stolen during the cremation of former finance minister Arun Jaitley at the Nigambodh Ghat.

BJP MP Babylon Suprio tweeted that the phones of about six MPs were stolen. Police have received information about the mobile phone theft of about 11 people on Sunday during the funeral of former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley at Nigambodh Ghat in Delhi.

Senior officials of the North District said, "We have registered FIR and the phone is being tracked. At that time, it was raining, there is a possibility that the phone had fallen somewhere, yet we have registered a theft FIR. Police say if mobiles are stolen, they are being traced and the thief will soon be put behind bars.
