A donation of Rs 6.28 crores was deposited in the Hundi (donation) on Thursday in Tirupati Balaji temple of Lord Venkateswara's world famous religious place. This temple records the largest amount of one-day donation in the 2000 year history. According to the temple management worth Rs 6.28 crore, the last record was Rs 5.73 crore, the owner of countless property, in the history of this temple, the record of the highest amount of donation in a day before it was Rs 5.73 crore, in 2012, on the occasion of organizing the event Ramnavami. Thousands of pilgrims arrive every day in this hill temple, from whose side a daily donation of 25 crores to 3.5 crores is offered as donations. It is believed that the amount deposited on behalf of one or two devotees is responsible for reaching Rs 6.28 crores of donations from the donor on Thursday, who has secretly deposited crores of rupees in it. According to DNA "Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam's annual budget presented last week to the Board shows a fall in hundi collection by Rs26 crore at Rs832 crore (as against Rs859 crore in 2012) for 2013, when the agitation was at its peak. But the overall revenue is Rs2,262.52 crore, a hike of Rs15 crore over previous year's Rs2248 crore, say TTD officials."
