Tokyo Olympics: Manipur govt to give big reward to Neelkant Sharma who outshined in hockey

Imphal: Manipur CM N Biren Singh has announced that Shanglakam Neelkant Sharma, a member of the Indian men's hockey team who won a bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympics, will be given a cash prize of Rs 75 lakh and a suitable state government job. CM Singh spoke to the Neelkanth over the phone on Thursday and assured him of a suitable job in the state government.

CM Biren Singh also congratulated all the players of the Indian hockey team on winning the bronze medal. In fact, the Indian men's hockey team has created history in Tokyo Olympics. After a long gap of 41 years, India has won an Olympic medal in its national games. In the bronze medal match, Team India defeated Germany 5-4 to tell the world that India's hockey is still the one that will make anyone terminate.

The Indian men's hockey team's first medal win in Tokyo Olympics since 1980 has ended the medal drought that has been going on for the past four decades. This victory has once again refreshed its old days by Indian hockey.
