Tragic Incident at DRDO Facility: Army Jawan's Suicide

Bhuvneshwar: In Odisha's Kendrapara district, a tragic incident unfolded at the DRDO's Radar Observatory Air Surveillance unit, where a 35-year-old army jawan, identified as Sepoy Raj Sekharan from Tamil Nadu, reportedly took his own life with his service rifle. The incident occurred around 2 am on Sunday while Sepoy Raj Sekharan was on duty at the DRDO facility located in Kiyarbanka village under the jurisdiction of Mahakalpada police station.

According to reports, Sepoy Raj Sekharan was found lying in a pool of blood, and he was immediately rushed to a nearby government hospital. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The circumstances surrounding his death have raised concerns, leading to authorities launching a comprehensive investigation into the matter.

Preliminary findings suggest that the incident may be a case of suicide, given that Sepoy Raj Sekharan allegedly used his service rifle to take his own life. However, the exact reasons behind this tragic act remain unclear, prompting the need for further examination.

Inspector Bimal Kumar Mallik of Mahalakpada police station has confirmed that the service rifle used in the incident has been seized and sent for examination to gather more details. The investigation aims to uncover any underlying factors or events that may have contributed to the jawan's decision to end his life.

The loss of Sepoy Raj Sekharan has deeply saddened the community, and authorities are working diligently to understand the circumstances leading up to this unfortunate event. As the investigation progresses, efforts are being made to provide support to the family of the deceased soldier and to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
