Tragic Shooting: Haryana Student Fatally Shot in Canada

Ottawa: A tragic incident unfolded in Vancouver, Canada, where a 24-year-old student from Haryana lost his life after being shot inside an Audi car on April 12th. The victim, identified as Chirag Antil, was discovered deceased inside the vehicle following reports of gunshots from local residents. As of now, no arrests have been made, and an ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Vancouver Police.

Chirag Antil, originally from Sonipat in Haryana, had traveled to Vancouver in 2022 on a study visa to pursue an MBA. Having completed his degree, he was actively employed at the time of the incident. His grieving family has reached out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, appealing for justice and assistance in repatriating his body for final rites.

Ronit, the victim's brother, recalled speaking with Chirag on the morning of April 12th, noting his brother's apparent happiness before the tragic event occurred. Expressing frustration over the lack of details surrounding the incident, Ronit emphasized the family's plea for swift justice from the authorities.

In the wake of the heartbreaking news, the Consulate General of India in Vancouver shared their condolences, expressing deep sadness over Chirag Antil's untimely demise. They have initiated communication with the relevant Canadian authorities to gather more information regarding the incident.
