Patna: A tragic incident occurred in Banka district of Bihar on Friday, April 13, 2024, when a bomb exploded, injuring four children who were playing near a house. Unfortunately, two of the children succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment, while the other two are currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Bhagalpur. Following the incident, the police initiated an investigation, leading to the arrest of two suspects named Mohammad Ismail and Noor Mohammad, with efforts underway to apprehend the remaining absconding accused.
Reports indicate that the explosion occurred in the Dhoraiya police station area of Banka, specifically in the Maqsood Mohalla of Ahiro village, near Ismail Ansari's residence. The blast resulted in injuries to all four children who were playing nearby, prompting swift medical attention. Despite efforts to save them, five-year-old Saniullah and eight-year-old Qurban tragically lost their lives at Mayaganj Hospital in Bhagalpur. Qurban suffered severe injuries to his leg in the explosion.
Out of the five suspects named in the FIR, two have been arrested, while three remain at large. According to the police, the accused had fled immediately after the case was registered. SDPO Archana Kumari of Banka confirmed the arrest of the two accused during a media briefing. Initial investigations suggest that the accused were involved in the manufacturing of the bomb, with bomb-making materials recovered from the site.
Local residents have described the incident as a result of hostility, with one woman stating that it was a targeted attack. However, another family affected by the explosion claimed ignorance about the perpetrators. Currently, the police are actively investigating to determine the underlying motives behind the explosion and bring those responsible to justice.
