Narada case: TMC workers anger erupts over arrest of ministers, stones thrown at CBI office

Kolkata: CBI arrested four leaders, including two ministers of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government in West Bengal, have taken a political turn. Terming the arrests as BJP sponsored, TMC workers have created a ruckus. Not only that, TMC activists gathered outside the CBI office on Monday afternoon and pelted stones in protest.

However, the main gate of the CBI office has been closed for the time being in view of any disturbance. With this, central forces have been deployed inside the CBI office and outside the main gate. Bengal government ministers Firhad Hakim, Subrata Mukherjee and MLA Madan Mitra have been arrested by the CBI in the Narada sting case on Monday morning. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee herself has reached the CBI office to protest against the arrests. The agency had raided the houses of the leaders on Monday morning and brought them to its office. Former Kolkata Mayor Sovan Chatterjee has also been arrested. Meanwhile, Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar has tweeted his attack on the government over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

Dhankhar tweeted, "Worried about the deteriorating situation. Talking to Mamata Banerjee, she has demanded that constitutional rules and laws be followed. The police should take all steps to maintain law and order in the State. Sadly, no action is being taken by the authorities and the situation is being allowed to deteriorate".
