Twitter's Captain Sully leaves as Musk makes drastic changes

SAN FRANCISCO: Sully Sullenberger, often known as "Captain Sully," who made headlines in the US by successfully landing an aeroplane on the Hudson River, has announced to take a step back from the Elon Musk-owned Twitter. To my Twitter friends, I will ll be stepping away from the social media site for the time being, Sully tweeted.

The landing of US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River in 2009 was described as a moment that "changed everything" by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey in a 2013 CNBC video. "Connect with me on Facebook, LinkedIn or Instagram to stay informed and hear my latest personal and professional updates," Sully further posted. A Twitter user responded to his tweet by writing, "We shall miss you a lot! Is it due to Twitter's new ownership? Best wishes to you!"

Since quickly acquiring Twitter, Musk has made a number of modifications to the microblogging network, some of which have not been warmly received by users.

Since Musk acquired Twitter for $44 billion, supermodel Gigi Hadid recently claimed that she had left the social media network because it is no longer a "safe place" for anyone.

After Musk took over, famous people like artist Sara Bareilles and film producer Shonda Rhimes left the platform. In addition, Toni Braxton and Tea Leoni have stopped using Twitter.

Stephen King, a well-known American author, has declared that if $20 was required for verification, he would leave. Any Twitter account using impersonation without explicitly stating "parody" on the handle will be permanently suspended, according to a recent statement from Musk.

The first victim of Elon Musk's new policy was comedian and actor Kathy Griffin, whose account was suspended by Twitter after she changed her display name to "Elon Musk" for "engaging in impersonation."
