Big disclosure on Swiss bank account holders, Two royal members of India included

New Delhi: A royal house has also come under the scanner of Indians holding accounts in Swiss banks. The Indian Investigating Officer has inquired about two members of the family of former princely states of Sangli district in Maharashtra from the Tax Department of Switzerland. Indian authorities have urged the Swiss government for official cooperation in this investigation.

On this, Swiss authorities issued a public notice asking Vijay Singh Madhavrao Patwardhan of the former royal family of Sangli and his wife Rohini Vijay Singh Patwardhan to appoint their representative to look into the matter. The Swiss authorities have also asked the two to inform them if they have any objection to their accounts being submitted to India. Patwardhan's daughter Bhagyashree works in films.

The Swiss government issues a public notice in the Gazette to give account holders an opportunity to present their case before informing foreign governments in such cases. Two separate notifications, published in the recent Federal Gazette of Switzerland, have asked the Patwardhan couple to nominate a person to present their case within 10 days. However, no other details have been given in these notifications except the couple's name and their date of birth.
