Mumbai: Trees are being cut in Aarey Colony to clear the way for the construction of Mumbai Metro-3 car-shed. More than 75 environmental activists protesting this have been taken into custody. On this, Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray has said that after the formation of the government, people will see the slaughter of trees. Uddhav further said that, “Aarey is an important issue. We are not letting go of the issue. I will take all information on what happened last night, today and will speak openly about it. I am confident that our government is coming back to power; then we will see what has to be done to the killers of the trees.” It is noteworthy that the process of cutting trees for the construction of metro carshed in Aarey Colony has been fiercely opposed since Friday night.
