British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that by the end of January, everyone above the age of 18 will be administered a booster vaccine, and another lockdown is "very improbable." The Prime Minister announced at a Downing Street press conference on Tuesday that the booster programme will be rolled out in age order and that the injections will be available at over 1,500 community pharmacy outlets across England.
"Temporary vaccine centres will be popped up like Christmas trees," Johnson said, adding that the spread will be aided by 400 military personnel and the "jabs army of volunteers."
According to sources, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has detected eight more cases of the new Omicron Covid-19 variant in England, raising the total number of verified cases of the SARS-CoV-2 variant known as B.1.1.529 in the UK to 22.
The UKHSA stated that it is working to make scientific information available as soon as possible so that the proper balance of actions can be used to limit the spread of the new variation and save lives. Sajid Javid, the British Health Secretary, said at a press conference that authorities are investigating any possible links to South Africa in the new England cases.
