'UP administration reducing internet speed in our areas..', SP's allegation about digital campaign

Lucknow: In Uttar Pradesh elections, the Election Commission (EC) has asked all political parties to digitise their campaign by January 15. But given the speed of Omicron variant cases, it seems that the entire campaign can be digitalised. Meanwhile, all political parties have also started their preparations. The Samajwadi Party (SP) has also adopted an aggressive strategy of the digital campaign.

With this, in a major change, the SP has decided to make WhatsApp the main weapon. SP strategists say their focus will be on small videos that can be easily downloaded and people's data is low. On the other hand, the SP has also started door-to-door campaigning. Akhilesh Yadav had held a meeting with the party's media panelists and workers on Saturday. Meanwhile, Akhilesh Yadav sought suggestions from the team.

Though the Election Commission (EC) is scheduled to review on January 15, the SP is now considering a plan to run the entire campaign through digital medium. But SP leaders have expressed concern that the administration is weakening internet speed and connectivity in areas with strong SP strongholds to influence their campaign. However, there is no response from the UP administration or the Yogi government on the allegations made by the SP so far.
