AYODHYA: On the occasion of the late singer Lata Mangeshkar's 93rd birthday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the newly built Lata Mangeshkar Chowk in Ayodhya on Wednesday, September 28. The Chief Minister paid respects by saying: "Sanatan Dharma entails paying respects to a person who dedicated their entire lives to preserving Indian music and culture. She has performed the most bhajans in honour of Lord Ram. She also wrote some of the best and most enduring patriotic songs. Prime Minister Narendra Modi served as the inspiration for this homage." Ayodhya was on its way to becoming one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Yogi Adityanath said. People won't have to wait long for the Ram temple, he said, as it is close to completion. Prime Minister Modi paid tribute to the legendary singer earlier in the day and said the Ayodhya street named in her honour will be a suitable monument to her. "On the anniversary of Lata Didi's birth, we remember her. I remember so much, including the countless interactions when she would demonstrate such adoration. I am happy that today, a Chowk in Ayodhya will be named after her. It is an appropriate tribute to one of the most famous Indian figures." Adinath Mangeshkar, a nephew of Lata Mangeshkar, represented the inaugural ceremony on behalf of the singer's family. Lata Chowk has a 40-foot veena, a musical instrument associated with Goddess Saraswati, weighing 14 tonnes that have been set up in Ayodhya as a tribute to the legendary singer.
