UP becomes No.1 in water conservation case, Union Minister honours

New Delhi: Union Water Power Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has announced the third National Water Award-2020 on January 7. Uttar Pradesh has won the highest number of awards. Uttar Pradesh has been ranked first in the 'Best State Category'. Rajasthan has finished second and Tamil Nadu third. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has congratulated UP CM Yogi Adityanath for the achievement.

Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said, "Water is constantly being exploited to meet agriculture, industry and other domestic needs. The availability of water has decreased continuously, but its use is increasing. The forms of rain are also changing. The demand for water is set to increase substantially by 2050 and can go up from the present 1,100 billion cubic meters to 1,447 billion cubic meters. Therefore, it is very important to try together. Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh was the best district in the northern zone. Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar of Punjab stood second. Thiruvananthapuram of Kerala finished first and Kadapa of Andhra Pradesh second in the South Zone.

 

 

On the other hand, East Champaran of Bihar was ranked first and Jharkhand was ranked second in the east zone. Indore in Madhya Pradesh was ranked first in the West Zone and Vadodara in Gujarat jointly second with Banswara in Rajasthan. Golpara of Assam and Siang of Arunachal Pradesh received the award in the North-East Zone. On the other hand, the Dhanspal village of Uttarakhand was honoured in the category of best villages.
