UP floods: 560 crore damage due to flood, state government seeks help from Center

Lucknow: This year there has been heavy rain in the monsoon. Due to which there was severe flooding in many parts of the country. Uttar Pradesh has also been affected by this disaster. The Uttar Pradesh government estimates that the state has lost more than Rs 560 crore due to floods and excess rainfall. The state government is now moving towards the center to make up for the loss. The proposal for approval of the flood indent has been sent to the Chief Minister. About 48 districts have suffered damage due to floods and excess rainfall in the year 2019.

CM Yogi Adityanath had instructed the District Magistrates to send an assessment report of the damage from the floods at the earliest. Reports of 72 districts out of 75 have come so far. Of these, 48 have reported loss from floods and excess rainfall. The floods have directly affected the population of about seven and a half lakhs of about 1300 villages in the state. In this, the crop of farmers has been extensively damaged.

The state government has prepared a proposal to demand more than Rs 358 crore from the Center for assistance to farmers, while assessing the loss of farmers. Under this, it is proposed to provide compensation to all small and marginal farmers up to two hectares facing crop loss and farmers with more than two hectares up to two hectares.

Citing the death of 126 people due to various disasters during floods and excess rainfall, it has been said to provide assistance of Rs 4-4 lakh. Similarly, it is proposed to demand Rs 561.18 crore from the Center, referring to the demolition of houses and loss of government property. Let us tell you that due to excessive rains, many parts of eastern UP and Bihar have been affected by the severe floods.
